The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby is an independent gem placed in the heart of Sheffield. The Great Gatsby is a popular destination due to its eclectic charm that perfectly transitions from a Mexican cantina in the day to a vibrant cocktail bar at night.

‘The Gatsby” is home to Shy Boy Cantina and serve some of the finest Mexican inspired dishes the city has to offer. With a small yet perfectly selected menu, The Great Gatsby serves food from ‘brunchtime” through to dinner in the evening, so you know that you can pop in for some tasty food at any time.

As well as being a treat during the day, ‘The Gatsby’ transforms into a buzzing nightspot, regularly hosting some of Sheffield’s unique DJ’s. With a 3am license and an exciting and varied cocktail and craft beer menu, it’s very easy to suddenly find yourself dancing all night with a “Ginny Hendricks” in hand.

Meal Wheel visited The Great Gatsby to give you sample of the type of food you can expect the guys at Shy Boy Cantina.

“We arrived around midday on a Tuesday so the bar wasn’t too busy but still had a fair amount of customers ranging from business meetings, couples and workers out on their lunch break.

We started off with a side of Elote - spiced corn on the cob for £4. I ‘m not usually a fan of corn-on-the-cob, however I have to admit that this was amazing. The special spice mix made the Elote a proper tasty treat.

Next, I had one of the Large Plates - the Chorizo and Roast Pepper Quesadilla at £7.50. Again, this was absolutely delicious with lots of flavour. Anyone who appreciates a meaty chorizo dish won’t be disappointed.

We couldn’t resist getting a dessert after spotting the chocolate chili ice cream for £2.50. Not having chili ice cream before it was a first. The combination of creamy, chocolate-y ice cream with a sharp spicy after taste is weirdly refreshing after a spicy meal.

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon at The Gatsby and can’t wait to sample more from the menu.”

The Great Gatsby staff are super friendly and attentive and with the new cocktails been made regularly, you should drop by sharpish! We suggest you try something new, you never know, it might become your new favourite!
